Turkish Womenswear Size Guide for Wholesale Buyers
Size labels are useful, but they are not a substitute for garment measurements. Two Turkish manufacturers can use the same label while producing different bust, waist, hip, sleeve or length measurements. For wholesale buying, the safest method is to compare the actual garment with a similar style that already sells well in your store.
Measurements to request
- Bust or chest width, with the measurement method stated.
- Waist and hip measurement for fitted garments.
- Shoulder width and sleeve length for shirts, jackets and outerwear.
- Total garment length from the stated starting point.
- Rise, inside leg and waist construction for trousers.
- Fabric stretch, lining and whether the fit is regular, relaxed or oversized.
Flat measurement or circumference?
A flat chest width measured from underarm to underarm is normally half the circumference. A 52 cm flat width does not automatically mean a 52 cm body measurement. Ask how the supplier measured the garment and keep the same method across your comparison sheet.
Allow for ease and garment shape
The garment must usually be larger than the body measurement to allow movement. The amount of ease depends on the design. A structured jacket, flowing tunic and oversized shirt should not be evaluated with the same tolerance. Stretch fabric can also change the practical fit without changing the label.
Create a store-specific conversion table
Record the actual measurements and customer feedback for every supplier and product family. Over time, this becomes more reliable than a generic country conversion chart. When a new MAJESSE product does not yet list measurements, add it to your inquiry and ask for the dimensions relevant to the garment.
Final check before ordering
Confirm whether the published sizes refer to the garment or intended body size, whether the fabric stretches, whether the style is lined, and whether different colours use the same material batch. Do not estimate customer fit from the model image alone.
